David Conover was an Army photographer for Hal Roach Studios in Culver City, California. He was assigned to take photographs of women working to aid the war effort. It was at the Radio Plane Company where he spotted 18-year-old Norma Jeane Dougherty. Unbeknownst to him, he took what were the first professional photos ever taken of Marilyn Monroe. Conover's photos actually landed Marilyn her first magazine cover.
According to Conover, he and Marilyn had a romance for a brief period.
